Seine River Cruise

Travel Date:

Thursday, 29th May 2014

Wanna see the vibrant ‘Ville-Lumière’ (City of Light) in a different perspective? One of the best ways is to do a river cruise and discover the magic brought by the banks of Seine river. We boarded a special fleet with an open deck on the 2nd level from Bateaux Mouches.

The boat departed from Pont de l' Alma (in English it means "Alma Bridge") - is one of the arch bridge across the Seine river. Surprise! Surprise! At this moment, I realised that my first name is famous in this city. Growing up, I've always asked my mom why my name wasn't that interesting, like those queen sounded or princess sounded or lady sounded names. After I've seen my name in some street names here, even a famous bridge. I feel so happy and proud! :)

Back to the bridge, it was built to honour the victory in the Battle of Alma occurred on 20 September 1854. The war occured in the river of Alma with joint effort of French-British soldiers against the Russian soldiers.

It was a fine day, a good weather, so it would be best to climb up and stayed in the open deck.

Did you know that Seine river banks has been listed as UNESCO World heritage?

No wonder it was included because of the top attractions and prestigious monuments. Among the few known monuments are: Notre Dame Cathedral and Louvre Musuem. Hubby and I decided to move to the rear of the vessel to get a better glimpse and to take pictures in a 360° view.

We've seen the bridge arches adorned with monuments/statues as well the famous Love Lock bridge. As we glided by down along the river banks, we witnessed couples dating, group of youngsters having a dance practice, restaurants, boats, old buildings, and more.

Everyone was so thrilled when the boat is approaching the Eiffel Tower. I won't deny it, I was one of them. A beautiful monument, so excited to finally see it!

The cruise lasted for an hour. We're happy and satisfied that we had taken enough pictures.
