Sometime in June 2015, we had a short trip to Wisconsin which took around 3 hours drive from Chicago, IL. I didn't do any research about the place unlike those past long drives that we did before. I just want to surprise myself and see what it can be offered.
We arrived at the city resort called "Lake Geneva" about lunch time. Our first stop was to stroll along Geneva Lake Shore Path where you can find huge mansions, beautifully mantained backyards and amazing view of the lake. I was amazed on every house that we encountered and wondered how many house help do they need to clean it, or how much the property worth? According to wikipedia, the Lakshoore is open for public in respect to a decision by early European settlers to the area that 20 feet of land leading up to the shoreline should be public domain. A shorepath, which is open to the public, completely surrounds the lake. Between 21 and 26 miles long, it supposedly follows the route taken by Potawatomi Indians. The path crosses the estates of the Schwinns, Swifts, Wackers, and Wrigleys.
We headed back to the nearby park called White River park where the Lake Geneva Area Convention & Visitors Bureau is located. It has some shade where you can have a picnic. We decided to stay there and ate our lunch.
Next we went to Timber Ridge Lodge & Waterpark where we spent our night. The room was cozy and clean and it has a kitchen where we cooked our breakfast. We enjoyed the waterpark as well as the arcade. Before we went home, I made sure I'll get my souvenirs. I bought a snow globe and some fridge magnets for my collections along Main Street.
