Treasure Hunting

A collector never stops collecting even if it's come from unusual sources. Most of time, I got my Precious Moments figurines from our local stores or through online stores. I've always watched the American Pickers in History Channel and I love that show. It provides you some tips on how you can get treasures out from strangest places. Well, I didn't travel in different states like they do just to find treasures because I was able to find them nearby.

Garage Sale. One of the possible sources where I found these pre-loved items. There were not so many though but at least 1 or 2 figures from our adventures. I reckoned that the previous owners of these items were not Precious Moments collectors because they let it go. They may get it as a gift from their family or friends. I checked it thoroughly if there were chips or cracks and found it in good condition. Unfortunately, it doesn't have a box but the good thing in garage sales is you can negotiate for a lower price to the owner.

Rummage Sale. In one of the Sunday masses I've atttended, the Priest announced that they will be having a rummage sale in the coming weekend. I grabbed the opportunity and checked if there's anything I can keep. To my surprise, my brother found 4 figures and immediately grabbed it and went to the cashier. I tried to ask the cashier if I can get it at much lower price, but then I realized that the proceeds for the rummage sale is for charity.

Thrift Store. We called it "UK" means "ukay-ukay". The store is selling second-hand items which are donations from individuals or organizations and the sales are used for charity purposes. Every visit is always a surprise and every surprise is always a new addition to my collection. The price is always fixed in thrift stores and non-negotiable but I'm still happy that each piece was only less than $7.00.

Glad to keep some of the vintage items manufactured during 1970s, they are rare and unique. Thanks to my brother who introduced me to these places. You may find the details of each figurine in this link.
