From Trash to Treasure

There are several ways to preserve travel memories, like taking photographs, putting plane gate passes, maps and other memorabilia into a scrapbook or getting a souvenir from that place. One of the things I do when I visited a new place is to collect magnets.
I've been collecting magnets for a while. Most of the people, stick their magnet collections on the fridge and I've been doing the same way too. I noticed they are starting to get too crowded and overlapping each other so I had to put away some of the items. I wish I could expand the fridge but not possible.
One day on one of our trips to a thrift store (Savers Thrift Store), I found something interesting in the pre-owned furniture area which is a good candidate for a home DIY project. The unwanted item is a wooden folding floor-standing picture frame. Before I found this item, I've been sharing my ideas with my hubby about doing some DIY projects for my magnet collections. We discussed in the store on how to recycle the picture frame and integrate with my collections. The frame has a price tag of $14.99 and still in good condition but there are few missing glass frames. I realized I don't need those glass frames anyway. I tried to check the item online to see how much it costs if it's brand new and was surprised to know that the price at least $90.00. My hubby agreed to take on this project, so I hurriedly grabbed it and went to the cashier and pay for it. Another surprising moment for me when I found that the item is 50% off.
Then we tried to look for unused metal sheets to recycle but there are none so bought the cheapest metal sheets from Home Depot which was costs us roughly $40.00. My carpenter (my husband), painted the old furniture then later he placed the cut metal sheets to each frame.
After a week, Viola! My magnet collections placed beautifully in a folding frame. Plus, I still have more space for future magnets. It was someone's trash but now it's my treasure! #TrashToTreasure
