Long drive: Switzerland to France

Travel Date:

Wednesday, 28th May 2014

Breakfast served at 6:15am at the roof level. Restaurant was not exciting and food was not superb.

7:00am, departure time from Astoria Hotel, Lucerne to France.

Passed Basle a tri-national metropolitan area where Swiss, French and German borders meet.

We entered part of Besançon is the capital and principal city of the Franche-Comté region in eastern France. This place is recognized as the 'Town of Art and History'. Then we crossed the Rhine river before we entered in the land of France.

Aftewards we drove through the Burgundy countryside and Dijon. It was a very scenic route seeing the wine-growing areas of the Burgundy regions.

Did you know that dry red wines made from Pinot noir grapes and white wines made from Chardonnay grapes are produced in Burgundy? That is why they are called "Burgundies". - Source: wikipedia

Everyone was so excited as we entered the the vibrant ‘Ville-Lumière’ (City of Light).
